Neural Radiance Fields with Physically Based Reflectance for Satellite Images

Our results show that crustal element ratios and clay contents distinguish dust aerosols from arid western coastal areas and humid eastern inland regions in Southern Africa. This dust contains key micronutrients that can become bioaccessible during atmospheric transport to nearby and remote marine ecosystems. It is also enriched in carbonates and K-feldspar, serving as a source of cloud condensation and ice nuclei, with potential implications ranging from regional to sub-hemispheric scales.

We combine aerial and drone Light Detection and Ranging surveys with sediment export and density measurements to assess catchment-scale mass balance in a badland environment. Landslides and crest failures are found to contribute 15 % of total mass export while affecting only 1 % of bare surfaces. Flood-condition drainage reconstruction shows low-drainage areas export 3.5 times more sediment than other slopes.

Seismic hazard evaluation is required for establishing earthquake-resistant building codes. Our aim is to improve the quantification of seismic hazard in the Levant by including our knowledge on how faults may be interconnected. We build an earthquake forecast by redistributing the energy stored in the fault system over all possible earthquake ruptures. This interconnected fault model leads to seismic hazard maps where hazard is as high on secondary fault branches as on main branches.
