Sensitivity of land surface and Cumulus schemes for Thunderstorm prediction

Nitrogen dioxide is an air pollutant largely controlled by human activity that affects ozone, methane, and aerosols. Satellite instruments can quantify column NO₂ and, by carefully matching the time and location of measurements, enable evaluation of model simulations. NO₂ over south and east Asia is assessed, showing that the model captures not only many features of the measurements, but also important differences that suggest model deficiencies in representing several aspects of the atmospheric chemistry of NO₂.
