EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL OF TERRESTRIAL LASER SCANNING FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION: A STUDY AT BARONG CAVE IN WEST JAVA, INDONESIA

Several places in Jakarta are subsiding at different rates. The results obtained from leveling surveys, GPS surveys and InSAR technique over the period between 1974 and 2010 show that land subsidence in Jakarta has spatial and temporal variations with typical rates of about 3 to 10 cm/year. Rapid urban development, relatively young alluvium soil, and relatively weak mitigation and adapatation initiatives, are risk increasing factors of land subsidence in Jakarta.

Jakarta is prone toward land subsidence and flooding. It is obtained that land subsidence in Jakarta has typical rates of about 3 to 10 cm/year. It has direct and indirect effects to flooding, both in coastal or inland areas. The coastal flooding usually occurs in the areas with relatively large subsidence rates. Subsidence in the areas along the rivers which are flowing throughout Jakarta also increases the impacts of riverine flooding.
